Removing OpenOffice quickstart.exe as a Startup Program
This section provides a tutorial example on how to remove OpenOffice quickstart.exe as a startup program from the startup folder.
The next startup program to look at is the OpenOffice quickstart.exe. I know how I got this startup program installed on my computer. When I installed the OpenOffice, sometime ago, the installation wizard automatically installed the quickstart.exe as a startup program on my computer.
Based on the HijackThis report, OpenOffice installed quickstart.exe as a startup program in my own startup program folder:
O4 - Startup: OpenOffice.org 2.2.lnk = C:\Program Files\OpenOffice.org 2.2\program\quickstart.exe
When quickstart.exe is running, you will see an OpenOffic icon in the
system tray, the right hand side of the taskbar, as shown in this picture:
Do I need to run quickstart as a startup program? Of course, not. So I am removing quickstart.exe as a startup program.
1. Right mouse click on the quickstart.exe icon in the taskbar and select Exit to stop this program.
2. Using Windows Explorer to local the startup up alias: C:\Documents and Settings\herong\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\OpenOffice.org 2.2.
3. Select and delete this alias.
4. Restart the system. OpenOffice quickstart.exe is no longer running. And it is not in the startup program list anymore.
