Disabling Search Engines in IE
This section provides a tutorial example on how to review and disable search engines in IE (Internet Explorer).
The second group of IE (Internet Explorer) add-ons is called "Search Engines". You should review them too.
1. Run IE and click "Tools > Manage add-ons" menu.
2. Click the "Search Providers" icon on the left. You will see a list of search engines currently used in IE.
For example, I have the following search engines in my IE:
Name Status Listing Order ---- ------ ------------- Google Default 1 Ask Search 2 Bing 3
3. Select "Bing" and click "Set as default".
4. Select "Google" and click "Remove".
5. Select "Ask Search" and click "Remove".
6. Review and change other options as suggested below:
[x] Prevent programs from suggesting changes to my default search provider. [ ] Search in the address bar
7. Click "Close" to save changes.
