This section provides a tutorial example on how to review and modify Start and Download options in Firefox.

The next thing to do to secure Firefox is to review and modify its options. Let's start with general options first.

1. Run Firefox and click "Tools > Options" menu. Then click the "General" tab.

2. Review and change options as suggested below:

When Firefox starts: Show a blank page
Home Page: http://www.google.com

Downloads
   [ ] Save files to: 
   [x] Always ask me where to save files

Note that:

Setting Firefox to start with a blank page and default home page to Google makes it faster to load.
Setting download option to "Always ask me where to save" gives you a chance to cancel the download process, if you clicked a download link by a mistake.
