Disabling Search Engines in Firefox
This section provides a tutorial example on how to review and disable search engines in Firefox. You should keep Google as the only search engine.
The next thing to do is review search engines used in Firefox. Some malware will install themselves as search engines.
1. Run Firefox and click the down arrow in the search input box. You will see a list of search engines used in Firefox.
For example, I have following search engines installed in my Firefox. I have no idea why I have so many of them and why Ask.com is in the first place and acting as the default search engine.
Ask.com Yahoo Bing Amazon.com eBay Google Twitter Wikipedia
2. Click "Manage Search Engines" at the end of the list. You will see a dialog box with the list of search engines.
3. Select "Ask.com" and click the "Remove" button. You will see "Ask.com" disappears from the list.
4. Remove all search engines except Google.
