This section provides a tutorial example on how to remove 'Yahoo! IE Services Button' - yiesrvc.dll.

Symptom: Yahoo! IE Services Button seems to be a nice tool. It offers two main functions:

• Yahoo! Sign In - A quick way to log into Yahoo! Web services.
• Yahoo! Shortcuts - A quick way to switch to different Yahoo! Web services.

When Yahoo! IE Services Button is installed on your system, a new button will show up in the Standard Buttons bar of the IE browser, see the picture below:

But Yahoo! IE Services Button does consume CPU and memory of your computer.

IE Add-ons List: Click IE Tools > Manage Add-ons, I saw:

Yahoo! IE Services Button   Browser Helper Object   yiesrvc.dll
Yahoo! IE Services          Browser Extension       yiesrvc.dll

HijackThis Report: In the report, I saw:

O2 - BHO: Yahoo! IE Services Button - {5BAB4B5B-68BC-4B02-94D6-2FC...
   - C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Common\yiesrvc.dll
O9 - Extra button: Yahoo! Services - {5BAB4B5B-68BC-4B02-94D6-2FC0...
   - C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Common\yiesrvc.dll

Quick Research: No need to search the Web. I want to remove Yahoo! IE Services Button.

What I Did:

1. Looked at IE > Internet Options > Programs > Manage Addon, and disabled:

Yahoo! IE Services Button
Yahoo! IE Services

2. Went to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs, and removed Yahoo! Browser Services.

Result: Yahoo! IE Services Button is gone!
