Windows 7: Create Repair USB Drive
This section provides a tutorial example on how to create a Windows 7 repair USB drive from a repair disc.
If it's hard for you to keep the Windows 7 Repair Disc, you can also create a Windows 7 Repair USB drive.
1. Insert the Windows 7 Repair Disc into the CD drive.
2. Insert a blank USB drive with enough free space of 150MB.
3. Copy all files from the repair disc to the USB drive
4. Run "diskpart.exe" command from the search input field after clicking the Start button. You will see diskpart starts in a command window.
5. Run following "diskpart" commands to make the USB drive bootable:
DISKPART> list disk Disk ### Status Size Free -------- ------ ------ --- Disk 0 Online 465 GB Disk 1 Online 248 MB DISKPART> select disk 1 Disk 1 is now the selected disk DISKPART> list part Partition ### Type Size Offset ------------- ------- ------ ------ Partition 1 Primary 247 MB 16 KB DISKPART> select part 1 Partition 1 is now the selected partition DISKPART> active DiskPart marked the current partition as active DISKPART> list part Partition ### Type Size Offset ------------- ------- ------ ------ * Partition 1 Primary 247 MB 16 KB DISKPART> list disk Disk ### Status Size Free -------- ------ ------ --- Disk 0 Online 465 GB * Disk 1 Online 248 MB DISKPART> exit
6. Take out the USB drive and label it "Windows 7 Repair USB" for future use.
