∟KeyStore and Certificate Classes

This chapter provides tutorial notes and example codes on the 'keystore' class. Topics include the Certificate class, using the CertificateFactory class to read and write certificates; the KeyStore class; opening 'keystore' files to read and write certificates.

Conclusions:

• The jav.security.KeyStore class offers about the same functionalities as the "keytool" command.
• There seems be to no way to generate a certificate chain.
• There seems be to no way to generate a certificate of a given public key.

Sample programs listed in this chapter have been tested with JDK 1.3.1, 1.4.1 and 1.5.0.
