VirusScan Enterprise Startup Programs
This section provides a tutorial example on how to find out what McAfee services are running on my Windows system.
After checking McAfee related background services, I want to find if there is any McAfee related startup programs on my Windows system.
Run "msconfig" and click the "Startup" tab. I see 1 startup item related to McAfee:
Startup Item: udaterui Command: "C:\Program Files\Network Associates\Common Framework \udaterui.exe" /StartedFromRunKey Registry Key: [HKLM\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run] Registry Value: McAfeeUpdaterUI
The path name of the command indicates that this is a startup program left from the previous version of McAfee VirusScan. because the new version is installed in "C:\Program Files\McAfee" folder. I need to confirm this and remove this startup item.
Conclusion: VirusScan Enterprise 8.5.0i does not use any startup programs.
