Keyboard and Mouse Click Shortcuts on macOS
This section provides a list of commonly used keyboard and mouse click shortcuts on macOS.
If you are new to macOS, you need to memorize some of keyboard shortcuts listed below:
Command shortcuts:
Command-X: Cut the selected item and copy it to the Clipboard. Command-C: Copy the selected item to the Clipboard. Command-V: Paste the contents of the Clipboard into the current app. Command-Z: Undo the previous command. Command-A: Select All items. Command-F: Find items in a document or open a Find window. Command-G: Find Again: Find the next occurrence of the item previously found. Command-H: Hide the windows of the front app. Command-M: Minimize the front window to the Dock. Command-O: Open the selected item, or open a dialog to select a file to open. Command-P: Print the current document. Command-S: Save the current document. Command-T: Open a new tab. Command-W: Close the front window. Command-,: Open preferences for the front app. Command-Tab: Switch to the next most recently used app among your open apps. Command–Up Arrow: Open the folder that contains the current folder in Finder. Command–Down Arrow: Open the selected item in Finder.
Shift-Command shortcuts:
Shift-Command-4: Start for screenshot. Image will be saved on desktop. Shift-Command-Z: Redo the "Undo" command (Command-Z). Shift–Command–?: Open the Help menu. Shift-Command-G: Open a Go to Folder window in Finder. Shift-Command-N: Create a new directory in Finder.
Shortcuts to control cursor location:
Fn-Delete: Forward delete. Fn-Left Arrow: Scroll to left end. Fn-Right Arrow: Scroll to the right end. Fn-Up Arrow: Scroll up one page. Fn-Down Arrow: Scroll down one page. Command-Up Arrow: Scroll up the top. Command-Down Arrow: Scroll up the bottom.
Option-Command shortcuts:
Option-Command-Esc: View and force quit running applications.
Mouse click shortcuts:
Single Click: Select an item. Double Click: Open an item. Control-Single Click: Show context menu. Double Finger Click: Show context menu.
