Removing Malware "Conduit Search"

This section provides the manual removal procedure to remove malware 'Conduit Search' on a Windows 7 system.

Removing malware "Conduit Search" is not difficult:

1. Disable system service: "Search Protect by Conduit".

2. Terminate processes: "cltmng.exe", "cltmngui.exe", and "cltmngsvc.exe".

3. Delete folder: "c:\progra~2\searchprotect\".

4. Remove IE home page setting: "conduit.com".

5. Remove IE search provider setting: "conduit.com".

6. Remove Firefox home page setting: "conduit.com".

7. Remove Firefox other configuration setting using "about:config" and search for "conduit":

browser.newtab.url - http://search.conduit.com/ctid=CT...
browser.search.defaultenginename - Conduit Search
browser.search.selectedEngine - Conduit Search
extension.dynconff.cache.search.conduit.com.content - ...
extension.dynconff.cache.search.conduit.com.expires - ...

8. Do not run the "Search Protect by Conduit" uninstall process in "Control Panel > Uninstall a program". Running it may trigger the malware to install additional malware components.

9. Do not touch any registry settings if you don't feel conformable editing registries. You can leave "Conduit Search" related registries there.
