Verifying Adobe Flash Player Installation for Safari 5

This section provides a tutorial example on how to verify that Adobe Flash Player is installed properly for Safari 5 on Windows 7 systems

After finishing the installation process of Adobe Flash Player for Safari on a Windows 7 system, how do you know it is installed properly? Here is what I did to verify the installation:

1. Open the installation log file, FlashInstall.log, in C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash. The log file contains these lines:

... "C:\Users\herong\AppData\Local\Adobe\install_flash_player.exe"
    -install -iv 8 -au 2
... Software\Macromedia\FlashPlayerPlugin/Version 2
... Software\Macromedia\FlashPlayerPlugin/PlayerPath 2
... C:\Windows\system32\FlashPlayerCPLApp.cpl
... SOFTWARE\MozillaPlugins\ 2
... SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Adobe Flash
    Player Plugin/ 2
... Software\Mozilla\Firefox\extensions/Plugins 2
... Software\Mozilla\MaintenanceService\extensions/Plugins 2
... Software\Mozilla\Mozilla Firefox\extensions/Plugins 2
... Software\Opera Software/Last CommandLine 2
... Software\Opera Software/Last CommandLine 2
... Software\Opera Software/Plugin Path 2
... Software\Opera Software/Plugin Path 2
... C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash\NPSWF32_13_0_0_214.dll
... C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash
... C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash\plugin.vch
... C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash
... C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash
... C:\Windows\system32\FlashPlayerCPLApp.cpl
... C:\Windows\system32\FlashPlayerCPLApp.cpl 183
... C:\Windows\system32\FlashPlayerApp.exe 183
... C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash\FlashPlayerUpdateService.exe

2. Run "Add or Remove Programs" in Control Panel. You see "Adobe Flash Player 13 Plugin" listed as an installed program.

3. Restart Safari 5 and visit the Adobe Flash Player verification page at You see "You have version 13,0,0,214 installed" displayed in the "Version Information" box in the middle of the page.

Now I am sure that I have installed Adobe Flash Player Plugin 13 for Safari on my Windows 7 system.

Note that Apple Safari is actually using the same Adobe Flash Player Plugin as the Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome. You only need to install 1 copy of Adobe Flash Player Plugin on your Windows system.
