∟WSDL 2.0 Not Supported by Zeep Library

This section provides a tutorial example to confirm that the Zeep library does not support WSDL 2.0 document.

Does Zeep Library Support WSDL 2.0? No. The current release of Zeep library does not support WSDL 2.0 documents. Let's verify this with 2 WSDL documents we have used in previous tutorials: Hello_WSDL_11_SOAP.wsdl and Hello_WSDL_20_SOAP.wsdl.

1. Run the test script, WSDL_Default_Service.py, with a local WSDL 1.1 document. It works. 

herong$ python3 WSDL_Default_Service.py \
  file:///Users/herong/Hello_WSDL_11_SOAP.wsdl

      Hello from server - herongyang.com.

2. Run the test script with an online version of the same WSDL 1.1 document. It works too. 

herong$ python3 WSDL_Default_Service.py \
  https://www.herongyang.com/Service/Hello_WSDL_11_SOAP.wsdl

      Hello from server - herongyang.com.

3. Run the test script with an online version of a WSDL 2.0 document. It works too. 

herong$ python3 WSDL_Default_Service.py \
  https://www.herongyang.com/Service/Hello_WSDL_20_SOAP.wsdl

Traceback (most recent call last):
...
ValueError: There is no default service defined. 
  This is usually due to missing wsdl:service definitions in the WSDL

As you can see, Zeep library fails to parse the WSDL 2.0 document. And it is doing a very poor job on reporting the real cause of the issue.

Conclusion: Zeep library supports WSDL 1.1 documents. It does not support WSDL 2.0 documents.
