File Directory Structure on an Example Movie VCD
This section provides an example of the file directory structure of a real movie VCD.
A VCD (Video CD) 2.0 has a well-defined file directory tree structure. Here is a good example that I got from one of my VCD collection:
1. Insert the VCD into the CD drive. The CD is recognized by the Windows system as drive "D:".
2. Run the following commands in a command window:
C:\>dir /s d: Volume in drive D has no label. Volume Serial Number is AEFA-1F4A Directory of D:\ 07/23/1996 12:34 AM <DIR> CDDA 07/23/1996 12:34 AM <DIR> CDI 07/23/1996 12:34 AM <DIR> EXT 07/23/1996 12:34 AM <DIR> KARAOKE 07/23/1996 12:34 AM <DIR> MPEGAV 07/23/1996 12:34 AM <DIR> SEGMENT 07/23/1996 12:34 AM <DIR> VCD 0 File(s) 0 bytes Directory of D:\CDDA 07/23/1996 12:34 AM <DIR> . 07/23/1996 12:34 AM <DIR> .. 0 File(s) 0 bytes Directory of D:\CDI 07/23/1996 12:34 AM <DIR> . 07/23/1996 12:34 AM <DIR> .. 03/04/1996 01:18 AM 80,702 CDI_APPL.VCD 07/18/1995 09:43 AM 92,572 VCD_BACK.DYV 07/18/1995 09:43 AM 93,719 VCD_BTN.C8 3 File(s) 266,993 bytes Directory of D:\EXT 07/23/1996 12:34 AM <DIR> . 07/23/1996 12:34 AM <DIR> .. 07/23/1996 12:34 AM 65,536 LOT_X.VCD 07/23/1996 12:34 AM 1,104 PSD_X.VCD 07/23/1996 12:34 AM 17,205 SCANDATA.DAT 3 File(s) 83,845 bytes Directory of D:\KARAOKE 07/23/1996 12:34 AM <DIR> . 07/23/1996 12:34 AM <DIR> .. 0 File(s) 0 bytes Directory of D:\MPEGAV 07/23/1996 12:34 AM <DIR> . 07/23/1996 12:34 AM <DIR> .. 07/22/1996 11:49 PM 36,166,748 MUSIC01.DAT 07/22/1996 11:50 PM 34,315,724 MUSIC02.DAT 07/22/1996 11:52 PM 35,103,644 MUSIC03.DAT 07/22/1996 11:53 PM 31,213,436 MUSIC04.DAT 07/22/1996 11:55 PM 39,024,428 MUSIC05.DAT 07/22/1996 11:57 PM 35,536,412 MUSIC06.DAT 07/22/1996 11:59 PM 32,692,844 MUSIC07.DAT 07/23/1996 12:00 AM 24,968,876 MUSIC08.DAT 07/23/1996 12:01 AM 28,186,412 MUSIC09.DAT 07/23/1996 12:02 AM 14,417,804 MUSIC10.DAT 07/23/1996 12:03 AM 28,560,380 MUSIC11.DAT 07/23/1996 12:05 AM 36,526,604 MUSIC12.DAT 07/23/1996 12:06 AM 32,706,956 MUSIC13.DAT 07/23/1996 12:08 AM 35,061,308 MUSIC14.DAT 07/23/1996 12:10 AM 47,954,972 MUSIC15.DAT 15 File(s) 492,436,548 bytes Directory of D:\SEGMENT 07/23/1996 12:34 AM <DIR> . 07/23/1996 12:34 AM <DIR> .. 07/12/1996 11:10 PM 112,940 ITEM0001.DAT 07/12/1996 11:11 PM 122,348 ITEM0002.DAT 2 File(s) 235,288 bytes Directory of D:\VCD 07/23/1996 12:34 AM <DIR> . 07/23/1996 12:34 AM <DIR> .. 07/23/1996 12:34 AM 2,048 ENTRIES.VCD 07/23/1996 12:34 AM 2,048 INFO.VCD 07/23/1996 12:34 AM 65,536 LOT.VCD 07/23/1996 12:34 AM 960 PSD.VCD 4 File(s) 70,592 bytes Total Files Listed: 27 File(s) 493,093,266 bytes 21 Dir(s) 0 bytes free
Cool. It tells that I have two SCSI buses with a DVD recorder and hard disk connected to them.
