Checking WAV Files Generated by FreeRIP
This section provides a tutorial on how to validate WAV music files generated by FreeRIP.
If you followed the previous tutorial, you should have WAV music files ripped off from a music CD. Here is what I did to validate them:
1. Using Windows Explorer to locate the second WAV music file: C:\temp\wav\02-Track 2.wav.
2. Click right mouse button on this file, and select properties. The properties dialog box shows up. The general tab displays:
File name: 02-Track 2.wav Type of file: Wave Sound Location: C:\temp\wav\ Size: 39,050,358 bytes
3. Click the Summary tab. It displays:
Bit Rate: 1411 kbps Audio sample size: 16 bit Channels: 2 (stereo) Audio sample rate: 44 KHz Audio format: PCM
4. Double click on the file name: 02-Track 2.wav. Windows Media Player will be started to play this music. Look at the play status window. The music play total time is displayed as 3:41 (3 minutes and 41 seconds). This matches well with the WAV file size 39 MB (about 10 MB per minute).
If the WAV file plays well to the end, FreeRIP did a good job of ripping off music tracks from the audio CD. It generated uncompressed WAV files with lossless (uncompressed) audio data.
