Managing JVM and JDK
This section provides a tutorial example on how to view and manage JVM and JDK installed on a Windows system.
If you have used JVM and JDK for some time, you may have multiple versions of JVM and JDK installed on your computer. You can follow this tutorial to clean them up:
1. Run "Control Panel" > "Programs and Features". I see a list of currently installed programs on my computer.
2. Find all Java related programs in the list:
Java 7 Update 7 - This is a JVM 7. Java DB 10.5.3.0 - This is a Java Database. Java SE Development Kit 7 Update 7 - This is a JDK 7 Java(TM) 6 Update 30 - This is a JVM 6 Java(TM) SE Development Kit 6 Update 21 - This is a JDK 6
3. Double-click "Java(TM) 6 Update 30" to uninstall it.
4. Double-Click "Java(TM) SE Development Kit 6 Update 21" to uninstall it.
If a new version of JVM and JDK is available, you can download and install them and uninstall old versions.
