This section describes the PHP SOAP Extension and its features: support of WSDL 1.1, SOAP 1.1, SOAP 1.2, HTTP, and HTTPS.

What is PHP SOAP Extension? PHP SOAP Extension is a SOAP extension module that can be used to write SOAP Servers and Clients. It supports subsets of SOAP 1.1, SOAP 1.2 and WSDL 1.1 specifications.

Main features of the PHP SOAP Extension:

• Support of WSDL 1.1.
• Support of SOAP 1.1 and SOAP 1.2.
• Support of HTTP and HTTPS.
• Ability to map SOAP fault to exceptions, so that you can try/catch.
• Message tracing capability on client side.

The SOAP Extension is distributed as part of the PHP Zend package at www.php.net.
