"soap:binding" - Binding Message Style and Transportation
This section describes 'soap:binding', a SOAP extension element that specifies the binding message protocol and the transportation protocol, SOAP 1.1 over HTTP, for example.
"soap:binding" is a SOAP extension element used as a sub element of the "wsdl:binding" top element.
"soap:binding" is used to specify that this binding is bound to the SOAP 1.1 message protocol and
a given transportation protocol.
The syntax of "soap:binding" looks like this:
<soap:binding transport="uri" style="rpc|document"/>
Notes on the "soap:binding" element:
- transport="uri" - Provides a namespace representing a SOAP transportation protocol. For example,
transport="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/http" represents SOAP over HTTP. This is a required attribute.
- style="rpc|document" - Provides a default message style for each contained operation.
This is an optional attribute. The default is style="document".
Here is an example of "soap:binding" element:
<wsdl:binding name="helloBinding" type="hy:helloPortType">
In this example,
- style="document" indicates that "document" message style should be used as the default style
for all operations.
- transport="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/http" indicates that SOAP over HTTP
should be used for all operations.
