Outdated: Missing Adobe Flash Player Plugin on Firefox 26
This section provides a tutorial example on what you will see on Firefox 26 with visiting a Web page that uses Flash without Adobe Flash Player Plugin installed.
What Is Adobe Flash Player Plugin? Adobe Flash Player Plugin is an add-on program for Firefox and other Netscape-compatible browsers that enables the browser to deliver multimedia information and interactivity programmed in SWF (Shockwave File).
If you do not have Adobe Flash Player Plugin installed and visit a Web site that uses the Flash technology with Firefox, you will get an error, or a prompt message to ask you to install it.
Without Adobe Flash Player installed, here is what I got on Firefox 26 with default settings:
1. Run Firefox 26 and visit the Adobe Flash Player test page at
The test page will show an empty area with a missing image icon as shown below:
2. Read the message below the page address as shown in the above picture. It says: "Would you like to install the plugin needed to display the media on this page?"
3. Click the "Install Flash" button below the message, you see the "Plugin Finder Service" dialog box for you to install Adobe Flash Player.
