This section describes how to access an Oracle Server through its Web interface.

Warning: Oracle Application Express (APEX) Web portal is no longer included in the Oracle Database XE package. You need to download and install it separately. Or you can skip APEX and use SQL*Plus only.

After you have installed Oracle 10g XE, it will allow you access the server through a Web interface. In another word, the Oracle server is listening HTTP requests on a specific port, 8080, by default. Here is how I logged in to the Oracle server with Web browser:

Make sure the Oracle 11g XE server is running.
Open an Web browser, like Firefox.
Enter this URL: http://localhost:8080/apex/apex_admin. I got the Oracle Application Express administration Login page.
Enter "ADMIN" as Username and "HerongY@ng" as Password. Click the Login button. I got the reset password page.
Reset the password to "T0p$ecret".
Login again with the new password at http://localhost:8080/apex/apex_admin.
